Part I: The Truth about the Franks POSTED: 7:57 p.m. EST, February 14, 2007 NEW YORK (AP) -- Anne Frank's father sent desperate letters to friends and family in the United States pleading for financial assistance to help the family escape from the Nazi-occupied Netherlands, according to papers released Wednesday.
"I would not ask if conditions here would not force me to do all I can in time to be able to avoid worse," Otto Frank wrote to his college friend Nathan Straus in April 1941. "It is for the sake of the children mainly that we have to care for. Our own fate is of less importance."
The letters, along with documents and records from various agencies that helped people emigrate from Europe, were released by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.
The information documents how Frank tried to arrange for his family -- wife Edith, daughters Margo and Anne and mother-in-law Rosa Hollander -- to go to the United States or Cuba.
Frank wrote to relatives, friends and officials between April 30, 1941, and December 11, 1941, when Germany declared war on the United States. He tried to arrange U.S. visas for his family before they went into hiding, but his efforts were hampered by restrictive immigration policies designed to protect national security, Holocaust experts said.
He referred to those problems in his letters.
"I know that it will be impossible for us all to leave even if most of the money is refundable, but Edith urges me to leave alone or with the children," he said in another letter to Straus.
Frank first applied for immigration visas to the U.S. for himself and his family in 1938, reviving his efforts in 1941 -- a move that may seem lax with what is now known about the Holocaust, but was logical to Frank at the time. [Emma: How was he even allowed to “revive his efforts”? Weren’t all Jews scheduled to be forcibly deported to “gas chambers,” as early as 1939?]
"He preferred what seemed to him like the nuisances that encumbered an otherwise comfortable life under Nazi occupation in the Netherlands to the insecurity of a life as a double refugee in a new country, even if a new country could have been found," said David Engel [JEW], a professor of Holocaust studies at New York University. [Emma: “…comfortable life under Nazi occupation”? Unconscionable! Especially coming from a Jewish “Holocaust studies” expert.]
Frank was unable to secure passage to the U.S. There were nearly 300,000 names on a waiting list for an immigration visa. Also, since Frank had living relatives in Germany, he would have been unable to emigrate under strict immigration policies. [Emma: The Americans, and New York Pan-Jewry, allowed several tens-of-thousands of Jews to sink to their deaths aboard a certain ship, on their way back to Germany—upon being rejected for ‘political refugee’ status.]
Frank's attempt to move his family mirrors thousands of German Jews, said Richard Breitman, an American University professor who focuses on German and American intelligence history.
"Frank's case was unusual only in that he tried hard very late -- and enjoyed particularly good or fortunate American connections. Still, he failed," Breitman said.
YIVO, a New York-based institution that focuses on the history and culture of Eastern European Jews, discovered the file among 100,000 other Holocaust-related documents about a year and a half ago. The institute did not immediately disclose the find because it had to explore copyright and other legal issues, said Cathy Callegari, a spokeswoman for YIVO.
Frank's attempts to arrange a route out of the Netherlands were unsuccessful. The family took refuge in July 1942, hiding for more than two years before being arrested.
Anne Frank described the family's life in hiding in a diary that has sold an estimated 75 million copies. The Frank family's hiding place in a secret annex in an Amsterdam canal-side warehouse has been turned into a museum. [Emma: Read the truth about Anne Frank’s diary here.]
The letters were initially held by the New York City-based Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, which gradually transferred its archives to the YIVO Institute in 1974.
Callegari said that the HIAS archives consisted of documents from various agencies so that the true origin of the Otto Frank letters may never be known. She said a volunteer archivist at the YIVO Institute discovered Otto Frank's letters about a year and a half ago.
The Anne Frank foundation hopes to obtain the papers, but there have been no discussions about that, said spokeswoman Teresien da Silva. "We'd like to have every original paper related to the Frank family. But we don't know what the outcome will be," she said.
Anne Frank died of typhus at age 15 in a concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen, Germany, in 1945. Her father returned to the Netherlands to collect his daughter's notes and published them in the Netherlands in 1947. Part II: Belgium collaborated in WWII deportation of Jews

Belgian historians have concluded that the country actively cooperated with Germany's Nazi regime during World War II in deporting Jews. The state even went beyond German demands at the time.
Belgium actively helped the occupying German forces round up and deport the country's Jewish population during the Second World War, according to historians from the Center for Historical Research and Documentation on War and Contemporary Society (Ceges) in Brussels.
"The Belgian state adopted a docile and cooperative attitude in some very diverse, but crucial domains providing collaboration unworthy of a democracy, with a policy that was disastrous for Belgian and foreign Jews," the historians said.
The report "Docile Belgium," commissioned by the Belgian parliament, said the state collaborated with the Nazis for "economic, as well as ideological and legal-administrative" reasons. It is the first time Belgium's cooperation with the Nazis has been presented in such detail.
Project leader Rudi Van Doorslaer said "a xenophobic and sometimes anti-Semitic culture of the ruling elite" in the 1930s had prepared Belgium psychologically for the persecution of the Jews. The "democratic deficit" in the years from 1930 to 1940 had also played a role, Doorslaer said.
"The step from passive to active collaboration was quickly taken," Doorslaer said as he read the report's conclusions to the parliament on Tuesday.
Government in exile authorized cooperation with the Nazis
Doorslaer said the country had closed its doors to Jews fleeing Germany after Hitler came to power in 1933. According to the Ceges study, the deportations began shortly after May 10, 1940, when German annexed predominantly German-speaking cantons in eastern Belgium.

But the report found that the government in exile in London during the war "never let it be known that policies had to be adapted and that the behavior of leading civil servants and magistrates was unconstitutional and democratically reprehensible."
However, Belgian authorities were not aware in summer 1942 that Jews deported to Poland were being exterminated, the report said.
Some 50,000 Jews lived in Belgium in the 1930s. About half were killed during the Holocaust.
Many Belgians tried to save Jewish people
Belgian Jewish groups reacted positively to the study.
"This report is fundamental and it is a victory for enlightened democracy," said Philippe Markiewicz, head of the Coordination Committee of Belgian Jewish Organizations.
Markiewicz said despite the negative impact of the report, there were many Belgians who risked their lives to save Jews.
Findings should go into the history books
The Ceges historians spent three years researching and writing the 1,114-page study and were able to view documents previously unused.
Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt apologized already to the Jewish community in 2002 for Belgium's role in the Holocaust. His spokesman said that Verhofstadt felt the Ceges findings should be incorporated into history textbooks.
The historians worked out the details of three major phases relating to the persecution of Belgian Jews. In October and November 1940, the central government followed the Nazis' request to require all Jews to register with their local authorities.
In the summer of 1942, when the Nazi regime began massively deporting Belgians of Jewish origin, collaboration started diminishing. Brussels refused to make Jews wear yellow stars, which the Nazis prescribed in order to identify them more easily. The police in Antwerp, on the other hand, arbitrarily arrested 1,243 Jews and handed them over to the Germans.
After the end of the war, Belgian military judicial authorities decided that investigating the deportation of the Jewish people was too "delicate" to be allowed to continue.
Emma: So, are the Jews going to sue the entire continent of Europe, for “deportation of labor,” while they drive Palestinians from their homeland; while declaring illegal, unsanctioned wars on the entire Middle East? I see a major collapse impending for that people. A serious catastrophe is in the making, which can be wholly prevented, at minimal cost, if Jewry acts quickly. Will Jewry act? I have my doubts.
They have never done so yet.

Suspected neo-Nazis go on trial for allegedly burning copy of Anne Frank's diary
Seven suspected neo-Nazis have gone on trial charged with incitement and disturbing the peace of the dead for allegedly burning a copy of Anne Frank's diary during a celebration last year. The men, aged from 24 to 29, are accused of holding a ceremony on June 24 during which they praised the Nazis and denied the Holocaust. The indictment accuses Lars Konrad, 25, of throwing the book into the fire in front of numerous spectators and the other six men of standing nearby. The seven men are also accused of using neo-Nazi and Nazi language to ridicule Anne Frank and all the victims of Nazi concentration camps. Denying the Holocaust, which is a crime in Germany, and incitement both carry a maximum sentence of five years. Anne Frank wrote her famous diary while she and her German-Jewish family hid in an Amsterdam attic for 25 months. They eventually were betrayed to the Nazis, and Anne died at age 15 of typhus at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945, weeks before the British army liberated the camp. Only her father survived the war, returning to collect Anne's notes and to publish them. "The Diary of Anne Frank" became the first popular book on the Holocaust. Mainstream politicians and Jewish leaders in Germany are concerned that far-right groups, including violent neo-Nazis, are growing in strength in eastern Germany. Far-right parties sit in three eastern state parliaments.

Anne Frank has been converted into a “saint,” and the novel, yes, novel, Diary of Anne Frank— which was mostly written in ballpoint cursive by her own father, who, by the way, had molested her, and scandalized her memory upon her death for profit—has come to replace the New Testament of Jesus Christ whom the Jews hate, blaspheme and revile. The so-called holocaust is the prophesied religion of AntiChrist. Even the Jewish scholar, Henry Makow, has had to admit that the Jewish G-d is really Lucifer. I myself have known this for about three years now.

Anne Frank diary burners sentenced by German courtCourtesy of The ScotsmanBERLIN (Reuters) - A German court gave five far-right supporters in eastern Germany nine-month suspended sentences on Thursday for ceremonially burning a copy of the diary of Holocaust victim Anne Frank. The five men, aged between 24 and 29, were found guilty of incitement and desecration of the dead by a court in the eastern town of Schoenebeck. Two other defendants were acquitted for lack of evidence. The incident took place in February of last year during a summer solstice celebration in the eastern German village of Pretzien near Magdeburg. According to news reports, one of the men cast the diary into the flames and said: "I commit Anne Frank to the fire," borrowing words used by the Nazis in 1933. They also burnt an American flag. Emma: These youths “dared” to “desecrate” the “memory” of Saint Frank, the foremost saint of the new worldwide, fully enforced religion of Holocaustism. I wouldn’t even touch a copy of that fraudulent piece of trash myself—it wasn’t written by Anne Frank. Only a few pages of the entire document are genuine, the rest was written by her filthy, disgusting, sexually deviant father, Otto Frank. He more than likely had molested the girl, as evidenced by her rather strange statements regarding her relationship with good old daddy big bucks. Anne Frank’s premature death should not be desecrated just because the late Otto Frank, and the modern day Jewish filth like the HateDL, have decided to profit from her death. The Jews who use her death and capitalize on it are at least 1,000 times worse than the “neo-Nazis” who burned her fake diary. The Jewish Zionists are the only criminals I see. They are the ones brutalizing, murdering, bombing, terrorizing, extorting, and imprisoning other human beings. The “neo-Nazis” are creeps, but aren’t the problem…clearly.
